I've been practicing paddle sports since 2010. Since that time, I've been part of a dragon boat team. We train once a week. In addition, I run and like to go (long distance) hiking. Successfully attending the YRQ in 2017.
together we want to significantly improve our result. Less than 59 hours, our time in 2017.
After successfully attending the YRQ with my Voyageur class team in 2017, my desire for a repeat was born. But it's not just a repetition.
Age: 53 previous races: 2019
Successfully attending the YRQ in 2019.For 20 years I train 2 to 3 times a week regularly in a gym. I have been in a running team for about 5 years. I often walk distances of 10 to 15 kilometers as well as half marathon. My other sporting activities include hiking, climbing, cycling and skiing. Since the year 2010 I have been able to gain experience paddling especially in the dragon boat. In a dragon boat club I take part in several competitions in the year.
together we want to significantly improve our result from 2017 and 2019
Age: 56 previous races: 2019
2019 first YRQFor 15 years, I go to a gym four times a week and keep fit with strength and endurance training. I especially like running at endurance training and cycling. I have been collecting paddling experience for 3 years during the dragon boat training.
Since 2010 I have been training dragon boat regularly 2 to 3 times a week.Over the past few years I have participated in a number of dragon boat competitions withthe teams Hai Voltage and Freak Show.I am also active as a trainer in judo and sumo twice a week and I keep fit with fitness, walking and skiing.
Making it to the finish line with my team and winning lots of wonderful experiences.
I found out about this race from a team member from the paddling team and I would like toexperience this. I love the sporting challenge with the entire team and the great landscape.

In 2017 our team “Hai Voltage” successfully finished the Yukon River Quest; several long distance races with the dragon boat team as well.Sports are an integrated part of my life. Since 2007 I am paddling in a dragonboat sports team.
Finishing in less than 59 hours (our time in 2017)
experience again the days and nights on the Yukon.
In teenage years I came to canoe racing. From this point on I am connected to water sports. Since 2012 I joined the dragon boat team "Hai Voltage". Here we are training weekly for the sports competitions. Even my holiday I spend active, hiking in New Zealand, cycling in Cuba, making husky tours in Scandinavia or canoeing in Norway.
For me it will be a new sporting challenge. Because this is my first race of the river "Yukon" and we want paddling a good time, which is better then that of 2017. That was paddled by our team in the Voyageur Class.
Dragon boat colleagues who finished the "YRQ" 2017 have raved about it and convinced me to take part. So we want to tackle the adventure in 2022 together. And for me it is the first time I fly to Canada, it is supposed be a very beautiful country.

Having the race cancelled two years in a row, especially last minute in 2021 was tough. In memorial of that race (and prepped for a 20+ hour paddle anyways), a solo circumnavigation of Lake Laberge on race day in the most non-stop worst conditions I've ever experienced out there was completed instead. There really is no greater reason for entering other than to indulge mother nature head on.Fingers and toes crossed for the 2022 race to start. I'm not getting any younger :-)Life is too short. The place is beautiful! The challenge of it, pushing your body, being sore for a week, I love that feeling. But this year, I will be a lot smarter, because I learned from my first experience. I'm excited for this and I can not wait to get in that canoe and paddle to the midnight sun!
- 7+ years of racing- Numerous races in MB- Northern communities treaty days races- Mostly stock boats- Canvas canoe 3 day marathon 6x
Aim to compete with top teas as top finisher! Aim to win! Look to be prepared, physically and mentally. I want to have a memorable experience with a solid team and a top finish.
I want to enter this race because it is one of the top races in North America and probably in the world. The best part f canoe racing is meeting other competitors, gaining new friends, and pushing myself as hard as your combatants. And I want to experience the area and it's culture.
