Read a blog on the YRQ a few years ago and always had this in the back of my mind but when my previous paddling partner Brian suggested we do this together in a K2 there was no hesitation. Now we can put the friendship to the test.

I spent time playing rugby in British Columbia and have wanted to go to the Yukon ever since. After kayaking from London to Bristol, I heard about the Yukon River Quest and the dream to compete in it was born. We've managed to miss out on entry the last few years so are overjoyed to get in this year.

I have Whitewater paddled on 12 wilderness rivers over the past 20 years, but this will be my first marathon racing experience.

I am an active member of Yukon Search and Rescue, and I enjoy wilderness hiking.

I am a Canadian History fan, and I am looking forward to following the route of the prospectors from the late 1890's, and in the wake of all the people that paddled this river for centuries before the gold rush.

Do a lot of running sport since 17 years, 15 half Marathons since 2012, 3 Marathon in 2017 and my highlight was the YRQ in 2017 in a Voyager. Paddling experience since 2008, kayaker, lot of dragonboat competitions, including long distance races. It will be my third summer in the Yukon in series.

To finish the YRQ in a Solo-Kayak is my biggest dream so far. Want to be in Dawson-City bit earlier than in 2017 when I completed the quest succcessfully with my teammates.

2017 I did the SUP 11 city tour twice, the nonstop and the 5-days, with extreme Dutch weather and this meant I was only the second person to achieve this but also planted a seed for more. Being a Naish team rider made this an approachable goal because of the support and equipment that comes with it. The 220km non-stop and the 5-days tour became a 440KM race in total.

After the 2017 Sup 11 city tour I was approached by Joanne Hamilton-Vale to join her team to participate in the Yukon 1000. At the bottom of the article was written ‘No one yet has paddled the Yukon River Quest, Yukon 1000 and Yukon 360 all in one year’ immediately my new goal was set.

As an avid outdoorsman who devotes 40%-50% of days on the water, the Yukon River Quest fulfills my desire to compete and experience an event requiring a commitment of this significance along a wilderness corridor that is of extreme interest. Training extensively for past year and race objective would be to finish in top 25%.

As I've kayaked the majority of the Missouri River system thru the States of Montana and Nebraska as well as significant portions thru the Dakotas, would like to apply my experience to the Yukon River system in an event of this magnitude.
